The Spoonful of Sugar Chair
The Spoonful of Sugar chair is a child size teacup chair for the garden, decorated with venetian gold tesserae, found objects, broken crockery and beach glass found on the shores of the San Francisco Bay.
Made of mosaic on concrete over foam armature.
The Passion Chair
My sculpture, “Passion” is a representation of all the various and complicated forms of passion that exist in human emotion. For many people, the word passion means a strong feeling of love or desire. The red glass, the perfume bottle and the heart mosaic all reflect this aspect of passion. However, passion also includes other emotions as well, including and religious beliefs anger, hate, fear, grief, joy, hope and religious beliefs. I have incorporated symbols of these others forms of passion into my sculpture as well. It is my hope that as people look for these symbols, some obvious, some not, that they might stop and think about how passion – positive or negative – affects us and the world around us.
